Hausherr 2016
In the Alsatian village of Eguisheim, Hubert Hausherr works his family’s 3.9 hectares of vineyards with his horse, Skippy, in lieu of a tractor. His vineyards and wines are biodynamic and natural from root to bottle to express the unique terroir as transparently as possible.
Skippy the Horse ploughs this 1-hectare vineyard of pink-tinged, sandstone-marl soils that Hubert Hausherr’s father planted to Riesling and Pinot Gris 40 years ago.
Vertical-pressed by hand and aged for just under 1 year on its lees in neutral oak barrels. No sulfur additions (or additions of any kind) and not racked until bottling.
